I work with people to regain a sense of enjoyment of their moving selves by helping them to discover pleasure and ease in movement and find more comfortable ways to do things.
People come to me for a variety of reasons - they might want to maintain their vitality in older age, want help after an injury, are looking for relief from a persistent pain or are seeking support living with a chronic health condition. Some people want to enhance an existing skill such as playing a musical instrument, doing sports, practicing yoga or horse-riding.
I use the Feldenkais Method, which is a uniquely powerful approach to learning. It works by creating new brain-body connections using slow, gentle movements. As you progress, you gradually become more aware of yourself and can experience profound changes in the way you feel yourself from the inside and in the way you are able to do things.
"Jackie's online Feldenkrais lessons have been perfect for me while recovering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. The classes are mostly done lying down, and use small movements that build throughout the lesson, with built in rest periods to allow for system integration. I always feel taller, more free and grounded in my body after the sessions. At any point the invitation is to imagine the movement if you're too tired to physically do it; that being said, the longer I've taken the classes the less I've needed to do this. Since the invitation is exploration and ease of movement rather than achieving certain postures, it removes the need to strive and be better and allows you to just explore what's possible. I love it!"
"Through the Feldenkrais Method I have become aware of how to use my body more easily and effectively and therefore avoid the previous cycle of strain and pain from years of one-sided work. It feels as though this very gentle process has prompted everything to work together and with that comes a deep sense of connection and integration."
