Having been a member of the Feldenkrais class in Frome has been a bit of a revelation to me - body and mind. The hour allows me to re-connect both mentally and physically. By the end of the sessions I feel that I have smoothed out the creases and the gaps - there is ease and fluidity whereas before there was tension and stiffness. As a form of movement it is gentle, reassuring, it allows one to think through how an action, what initiates it and where it can go. I love it as a class and form of movement. Nessa |
For me Feldenkrais is like mindfulness for the body. I love how it connects you to your body and allows you to explore how it works and create new habits to make everyday movements freer. The classes with Jackie have made me more aware of my habitual ways of moving and allowed me to experiment with new postures and ways of doing things. Although the exercises seem very simple and slow they require complete concentration and there is no competitive edge because each student is exploring their own body and habits. I come away from each class standing taller and more aware of how I am moving. I suffer from lower back problems and I’ve always felt safe doing the exercises and felt more flexible afterwards. Jackie is an excellent teacher, she is calm, confident and positive. There is no judgement or criticism, the classes are a place for exploration and discovery. Sandy |
The Feldenkrais Method get to parts of my body that other exercise classes don’t touch! I have always experienced tension in my neck, throat and shoulders. Rather than telling me to relax, Jackie’s Feldenkrais lessons have shown me how my body can open up and make more space and now I understand what it feels like to be relaxed. Jane "Through the Feldenkrais Method I have become aware of how to use my body more easily and effectively and therefore avoid the previous cycle of strain and pain from years of one-sided work. It feels as though this very gentle process has prompted everything to work together and with that comes a deep sense of connection and integration." Judy |
